Kurt Donald Cobain was born on February 20, 1967 in Hoquaim, a small town 140 km from Seattle. Childhood was not a very easy time for Kurt: at the age of 7 his parents divorced, and his character, as a result of this, for him, terrible fact, changed dramatically. He became introverted and distracted, a sad little boy who will keep that mood for the rest of his life. At the age of eleven he discovered the music of Sex Pistols, together with his friend Chris Novoselic, who later became the bass player of Nirvana. It’s the music that best reflects his morale, it’s especially the only one with which he can explode the anger that accompanied him for some years. It was time to put into practice the guitar lessons, with which the mother tried to move her son away from the family reality. In 1986 Nirvana, ( Kurt, guitar and vocals, Chris, bass ), moved to Seattle, to sign a contract with the record company Sub Pop. Here began a series of concerts, all held in the vicinity of Seattle. In 1989 the first work: “BLEACH”, with the drummer Dale Crover alternating with Chad Channing. In 1990 Dave Grohl (drummer) arrives and the same year the group signs with the record company DGC. On September 24th 1991 “NEVERMIND” was born, an absolute masterpiece of Grunge music, with “Smells like teen spirit”, the most successful piece. On February 24, 1992, Kurt married Courtney Love, in Cuakiki, Hawaii. In 1992 “INTESTICIDE” was released, his daughter Fences was born, and Kurt decided to detoxify himself, since by now drugs were heavily present in his life. (an emblematic answer from Grohl, during an interview, which said he was disgusted by the way in which Kurt and Courtney were reduced …) In 1993 the fourth album, “IN UTERO”, was released and this too is a success. The last album is an unplugged compilation, recorded in MTV’s studios. The rest of the story, unfortunately, doesn’t tell about his musical skills: on March 4, 1994, in Rome, during the European tour, Donald goes into a coma, for a cocktail of sleeping pills. The death, however, is postponed for a month: April 8th is found the corpse of Kurt, who committed suicide with a shotgun and next to a letter addressed to his wife Love and daughter of just 19 months, Frances. Two days after his death, more than 5,000 people poured into the streets of Seattle, to remember the man who had made Grunge known all over the world, the leader of the band-symbol of Seattle. We’ll Always Remember.
