Ed Sheeran, whose full name is Edward Christopher Sheeran, was born on 17 February 1991 in Halifax, England. He spent the first years of his life in West Yorkshire, at Hebden Bridge, before moving to Suffolk, at Framlingham. Son of John, an art curator, and Imogen, a jewellery designer, he was educated according to a Catholic education, and learned to play the guitar from an early age. While attending Thomas Mills High School in Framlingham, he began to write songs. In 2005 he began recording, and in the same year he released “The Orange Room EP”, his debut EP, followed by “Ed Sheeran” and “Want Some?”, his first two studio albums, which came out through the Sheeran Lock in 2006 and 2007. The following year Ed Sheeran moved to London. In the British capital he gives numerous concerts, often in small venues or for a very small number of people. After taking part in an audition for “Britannia High”, a TV series, in 2009 he recorded “You Need Me EP” and undertook a tour with Just Jack. In 2010, he was invited by rapper Example to do a tour with him. After publishing “Loose Change EP”, Ed Sheeran left his old record company and moved to the United States, where he performed in numerous clubs. On one of these occasions he was noticed by Jamie Foxx, who allowed him to stay at his home, allowing him to stay in California to record. Meanwhile, Ed Sheeran’s videos published on Youtube begin to get a higher and higher number of views, with the fan base gradually increasing. The Anglo-Saxon singer then publishes “Ed Sheeran: Live at the Bedford” and a collection of love songs, “Songs I Wrote with Amy”, written together with Amy Wadge, actress and singer-songwriter, in Wales. In 2011 she created “No.5 Collaboration Projects”, her last independent EP, with the participation of several artists, including Devlin and Wiley. This work allows him to get the first place on iTunes, although not promoted by any label, and sells in the first week alone more than 7 thousand copies. After signing an agreement with Asylum Records, in the spring of 2011 Ed Sheeran participates in “Laterwith Jools Holland”, music TV program. He then released the digital download single “The A Team”, the first extract from his third studio album, “+”. “The A Team” became the best-selling debut single of that year, and was followed by “You Need Me”, released in August. Meanwhile Sheeran collaborates with One Direction writing the song “Moments”, which becomes part of the album “Up all night”. In 2012 he performed in front of Buckingham Palace, on the occasion of the concert of the Diamond Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II. She also sings in Bristol for collecting sources for a charity dedicated to prostitutes, obtaining more than 40,000 pounds. During the closing ceremony of the London 2012 Olympic Games, she performed Pink Floyd’s song “Wish you were here”. A star of the iTunes Festival 2012, Ed Sheeran is nominated for the Best UK & Ireland Act category at the Mtv Europe Music Awards, before “The A Team” is nominated for the 2013 Grammy Awards as Song of the Year.
