This is Biography Marie Fredriksson Fredriksson was born on 30 May 1958 and died Djursholm, 9 December 2019, the voice of the Swedish duo Roxette. For over 17 years the singer had been fighting against a brain tumor that she was diagnosed with within 2002. The artist died on Monday “due to the consequences of a long illness”.
Roxette, a duo formed by Marie and Per Gessle, reached full fame between the late eighties and early nineties of the twentieth century, succeeding as the first Swedish music group to conquer the U.S. market.
They are the singles Listen to Your Heart and The Look, from the 1988 album Look Sharp! which lead Roxette to European and international success: in the United States they are both number one on Billboard’s charts, together with It Must Have Been Love, that year 1990 for the soundtrack of the movie Pretty Woman was so successful.
They were successful between 1991 and 1992, with the album Joyride, the extracted singles, and the world tour Join the Joyride World Tour – Join the Joyride 1991-92, with the release of the album Tourism, and the single How Do You Do! along with the further release of the home-videos Live-Ism and The Videos.
They continue to be successful, especially in Europe, with the singles Sleeping in My Car, Crash! Boom! Bang! and Run to You, taken from the fifth album of 1994, Crash! Boom! Bang!, with the world tour that follows, between 1994 and 1995, and the release of the band’s first collection, Don’t Bore Us – Get To The Chorus! in particular with a track of the four unreleased ones present, You Don’t Understand Me, written together with Desmond Child, and extracted as the first single.
After a break of almost five years, they come back and confirm their success, with the singles Wish I Could Fly and Anyone, taken from the 1999 album Have a Nice Day, and maybe with minor attention, some years later, with the release of the album Room Service, in which the singles The Centre of the Heart and Real Suga are also extracted.
