BTS rapper J-Hope shined at the MAMA Awards 2022 on Wednesday (Nov. 30), first with a spectacular walk on the red carpet and then on stage with a performance of the songs “MORE,” “Arson” and “Future,” from his debut solo album Jack in the Box.For the rapper’s performance, he kept to the Jack in the Box theme, first with several ornate boxes piled on stage. J-Hope appeared at the top of the massive display holding a box of his own, which the camera zoomed in on and then showed him-along with a small army of backing dancers- rapping “MORE” from inside a checkered box.
In the fourth minute of his performance, Hope went solo with an enthusiastic rendition of “Arson” accompanied by fiery props and red screens.
The rapper then kept things to a minimum. The fiery stage cooled down when his more peaceful performance of “Future” came on, preceded by screens that read “Music has the power to connect us. Music is what moves the soul, so let’s unite and move into the future.” Hope passionately delivered the chorus of the song – “Always, I need it too/ When I said I do/ Courage and faith/ Rhythm of positivity/ Always, I need it too” – to the audience, who waved glow sticks in tune with the song.
Taking the stage, J-Hope sported a total black look on the red carpet, elegant in a satin lapel suit jacket, an unbuttoned black shirt, pants and shoes. Although his look was more than enough to send ARMY into a panic, even the red carpet commentators couldn’t help themselves, saying “wow” several times before chatting with him.
