Michael Omari was born on July 26, 1993, his stage name is Stormzy, is a British MC his dirty music that rap. Stormzy and was named as an artist to watch in the influential BBC’s Sound of 2015 list. Stormzy describes himself as “a child of filth” influenced by the likes of Wiley and Skepta, but also mentions R&B singers as influences on his sound, such as Frank Ocean and Lauryn Hill. Stormzy started MCing when he was 11 years old and went to his local youth club to fight old MCs. After drawing attention to the British underground music scene through his freestyles series of Wicked Skengman’s classic grime beats, Stormzy released his debut EP Dreamers Disease independently in July 2014. On October 22, Stormzy won the Best Grime Act award at the MOBO awards. That month, he became the first unsigned rapper to appear on Later, with Jools Holland performing the song “Not That Deep” from his Dreamers Disease EP. In November 2014, Stormzy collaborated with rapper Chip and Shalo on the song “I’m Fine”, also appearing in a video of the song. On January 7, 2015 Stormzy reached number 3 on the BBC introducing the top 5 on Radio 1. The song is part of Chip’s Believe & Achieve project. In March 2015 he released the single “Know Me From”, which entered the UK Singles Chart at number 49. In September 2015 he released on iTunes his latest episode of the online series “WickedSkengMan” with “WickedSkengMan 4”, along with a studio version of his freestyle “Shut Up” which has accumulated 6.9 million views. “WickedSkengMan 4” instantly rose to number 3 on the iTunes chart and remained in the top 20 during its week of release. On September 18, 2015 it entered the UK singles chart at number 18, becoming Stormzy’s first top 40.
